Self-appreciation & Mutual Respect

Self-Appreciation & Mutual Respect

Self-appreciation is about knowing and understanding your own strengths and limitations. The children will be supported to accept and respect themselves for who they are, celebrating their uniqueness. It is the fact that we are different that makes us special and this aspect of learning will support the children to love everything about themselves. They will come to understand that without loving themselves, they will never be able to genuinely love others.

Mutual respect is understanding that we all don’t share the same beliefs and values. Respecting the values, ideas and beliefs of others whilst not imposing our own on others. The children will learn that, in order for relationships to remain healthy, both parties must be equally respected and appreciated. The whole curriculum at St Anselm’s is being revised to ensure that children learn about the lives and heritage of others, their successes and their struggles, so that they are able to respect individuals throughout their lives.
