We made our own 'paint' like Stone Age people did to create cave paintings. You can see the finished products at our Quest afternoon!
In Science, we are investigating rocks. We sorted lots of rocks according to their properties and asked questions about them.
We have been practising exchanging so that when we add numbers where the ones equal ten or more we move ten ones into the 'tens club'!
This week we started our gymnastics unit in PE. We practised our pike and straddle sit, as well as dish and arch shapes. We worked together to put these shapes into a sequence thinking about how we could move from one to the other.
In our novel, Storm by Kevin Crossley-Holland, the main character, Annie, has a difficult decision to make; go out in the storm to help her sister or stay at home. We thought of reasons why she should go out and shouldn't. Then we shared our thoughts in a conscience alley. 'Annie' walked through listening to our ideas.

During Power hour this term we have been learning how to keep our mind healthy just like we keep our body healthy. We learned how having a growth mindset can make us better learners.

We were so proud of ourselves after our performance at last week's assembly. We loved retelling the story of Hamlet and hope that everyone enjoyed it as much as us!

Yesterday, we went on a trip to Kent Life where we took part in several workshops to learn more about life in the Stone Age. We learned about weapons, beliefs, trading, becoming farmers and lots more. We even met a Stone Age man!
We have been painting some scenes from Hamlet to use in our assembly this week. We used watercolour paints. We learned to do the background first, then allow it dry before adding details.
Earlier this week, in the brief sunny spells, we went on a shadow hunt. We identified where the light source and shadows were and what opaque object was making the shadow.
We thought about how we could make our shadows change and noticed that when we faced the light source we couldn't see our shadows; they were behind us.
In LORIC this term we are learning how to be good leaders and good team members. We were challenged to work together to build the tallest tower that we could using only newspaper and sticky tape! Every team had a leader. The results varied between teams but everyone worked very well together without ANY arguing!
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
