School Closure

St Anselm's School Closure Home Learning - Reception

Below you will find information on the different areas of learning your reception child is required to cover during the school closure. Each week the school is closed, there will be a new dated tab that you should click on to access the weekly timetable and links to any further documents and online resources related to the work set. These tabs can be found at the foot of this page, accompanied by a star icon.

Reading

You would have received in your home learning packs, a home reading guide on how to access and use the free Oxford Owl online resource so your child can read e-Books.  We urge that children read the same book for at least two or three days in a row before moving onto the next book. Although your child may be able to read the words in the book easily, it is important that the same text is repeated and appropriate questions are asked to ensure a child's full understanding of the story. Please evidence daily reading in your child's school reading record in the usual manner. The parents guide on how to access Oxford Owl is attached at the foot of this screen.

Red Words

Please learn two new red words a day, starting from where your child currently is on their individual red word list. The three separate lists of red words that the children are working on have been attached at the foot of this screen.

Maths

You have been provided with a maths exercise book covering all of the different areas of learning within the early years maths curriculum. Please do not allow your child to sit and complete numerous pages in one go. Please use the weekly timetables to find instructions on which pages to complete.

Home Learning Exercise Book

Each child has an exercise book within this pack. In this book you will find some activities to complete which contributes towards your child achieving the early learning goal in the seven different areas of learning. Each week, please refer to the uploaded timetable on the class page of the school website which will direct you when to complete one of these activities and from which area of learning you should be selecting from. When you complete these activities with your child, please take photographs of them and make comments on Tapestry. Staff will have access to Tapestry from home and would love to see and comment on the learning that is happening at home. You can find a copy of the Early Learning Goal activities at the foot of this page.

Please use empty pages in the exercise book provided to complete the writing tasks (see below).

Handwriting, Phonics and Sentence Writing.

You have been provided with a phonics and handwriting workbook. Please follow the guidance printed on the front of the packs as to how to complete each page in terms of additional related writing tasks. Guidance in the weekly updated timetables will inform you on what pages to complete, and when this should be completed. Blank pages in the exercise books provided should be used to complete the additional writing tasks.

Wellbeing

The wellbeing of our children and their families during the school closure is at the forefront of our concerns. Please find below, a leaflet written by the school giving suggestions on how to maintain positive wellbeing and good mental health during these unprecidented times.
