Culture Club

Developing children’s cultural capital at St Anselm's is essential, as it equips them with the knowledge, experiences, and social awareness that help them navigate and succeed in the world beyond school.

Cultural capital includes understanding and appreciating diverse cultural backgrounds, traditions, history, and the arts, which broadens children’s perspectives and fosters empathy.

Recognising this importance, the school runs weekly Culture Club sessions for both KS1 and KS2, where children engage with carefully selected themes each term. These sessions allow our children to explore various aspects of culture—such as notable historical figures, world celebrations, art forms, or global stories—offering them a richer understanding of the world and their place in it.

By building cultural capital, St Anselm's not only enhances our children's knowledge but also nurtures curiosity, inclusivity, and respect for different ways of life. These are essential traits for lifelong learning and personal growth, aligning with the school's goal to educate children to become informed individuals capable of making positive contributions to society.
