Encouraging participation

Parents in School

We encourage parents to help with various aspects of learning in school. They are also encouraged to escort small groups on class trips.

A small group of parents run the School’s Walking Buses and run after school activities.

A group of parent volunteers have also been trained as Better Reading Partners and work with individual children three times per week to improve outcomes in reading.

Parents have also worked with the Senior Leadership Team as small working parties to write an 'Acceptable Use of the Internet' policy and also to improve the end of year reporting format so that it tells parents exactly what they want to know.

Home-School Agreement

This is given to all new parents as their children start school. It indicates the ways that parents and the school can support each other to provide the best for the child. Parents are asked to sign the agreement, return a copy to school and keep their own copy at home

Special Events

During the year we organise special school events which encourage the involvement of parents:

  • Curriculum information sessions
  • Class assemblies
  • School Masses in St Vincent's Church
  • Concerts
  • Stations of the Cross at St Vincent’s Church during Lent
  • Sports fixtures and clubs
