St Anselm's Rainbow Curriculum

For the 2020 - 2021 academic year and beyond, we have written our own 'Rainbow Curriculum' aimed at enhancing pupil wellbeing through strengthening their personal skills across seven strands:

  1. Kindness and Compassion
  2. Self-appreciation and Mutual Respect
  3. Communication and Collaboration
  4. Initiative and Independence
  5. Resilience and Adaptability
  6. Organisation and Self-discipline
  7. Leadership and Confidence

Term 4

For the first four weeks after lockdown, we are learning about resilience and adaptability and how to manage our feelings and change to help us transition back into school.

Term 3

Self-appreciation

This week we have all been exploring the theme of self- appreciation. We have been celebrating our strengths, exploring what we like about ourselves, looking at our star qualities and appreciating that we are enough, just the way we are.

Term 2

This term, the whole school is focusing on Kindness and Compassion in their PSHE lessons. Between now and Christmas we will be focusing solely on the first strand of our rainbow curriculum - Kindness and Compassion - as we believe that these are essential qualities, central to everything we do as children of God.

Year 1 and 2 are being 'bucket fillers' this term, completing random acts of kindness for their classmates. The idea was taken from the book 'Have You Filled a Bucket Today? By Carol McCloud. Junior children have created a kindness tree.

We have also been linking kindness to the season of Advent.
