Worship and Spirituality

As a Catholic School, we aim to develop spirituality in everything we do. In addition to this, the children are taught to pray, formally in their daily class prayers, through music and through individual prayers and meditation during liturgies and worship.

The children pray together as a class throughout the day. Every class has a central prayer area that is the focus of their daily prayer. This is updated regularly and reflects the Liturgical year.

Two age-appropriate liturgies, one for Reception and KS1 and one for KS2, are celebrated on a Monday or Wednesday morning where the previous day’s Sunday Gospel is read, discussed and reflected upon.  This is an invaluable experience that is often reflected in the children’s thoughtful responses during reflection and in their individual bidding prayers.

As well as daily class prayers, the children have opportunities to visit the quiet prayer area for their own individual time in prayer.

Father Zammit, the Parish Priest, celebrates mass in school each Thursday morning. Pupils from Year 2 – 6 attend throughout the year. Pupils from Year 1 attend during the Summer term.
