Dear Parents and Carers,
St Anselm’s will remain closed on Friday 2nd March.
It is never an easy decision to make but the school must take account of the safety of all our children and staff. Today, we have seen a significant amount of snowfall and are experiencing very cold temperatures. The forecast for tomorrow, although changeable, is for more snow and temperatures below zero.
Although Mr White will be able to clear enough of the walkways around the school site, the routes in to school remain treacherous on foot; a number of staff live outside of the Dartford area and it is unlikely that they will be able to make the journey in to school safely. In addition to this, we are unable to provide children with a hot school meal since the kitchen that cooks for us is also closed tomorrow due to the weather.
As you can see, the decision to close has not been taken lightly and I hope that this early notification of closure will help you to make any necessary arrangements for tomorrow. Hopefully, the weather will make a change for the better over the weekend and we fully expect that the school will be open as normal on Monday.
Thank you all for your support and patience these last few days.
